This is the Old Red Museum located on the corner of Main Street and Houston St. On November 22nd, 1963,the Presidents motorcade traveled down Main Street and turned right onto Houston Street. This building was on his left.
As the motorcade turned right onto Houston St., he saw this seven story orange building. This building was then the Texas School Book Depository building. Now it is the Dallas County Administration Building. Slightly in front of this building, the motorcade turned left onto Elm Street. This put the Depository building on the Presidents right and Dealey Plaza on his left.
This photo shows the boxes that were in the window the day the President was shot. The Warren Commission's findings were that this was the place of the snipers location. There is a museum located on the sixth floor of the building and the boxes have not been moved since 1963. (We didn't go in the museum but received a lot of our information from the visitor center.)
The top his picture is of the "grassy knoll" and if you will look in the road you will see an "x". This is the spot where President Kennedy received the shot to his throat. This was the first shot fired.
This is a photo where President Kennedy received the second shot. (Look for the "x") This was the fatal head shot. The President was pronounced dead at the Parkland Hospital.
Dallas has a memorial to JFK that we drove by but decided not to visit.
