First Day at Choke Canyon State Park 12-29-09

We left Goliad State Park on December 29th, 2009. We left a day earlier than planned because the weather was dreary and wet. There was no sense sending a day in the bus because of rain and then the spending the next pretty day in the bus because of travel.  Therefore, we decided to head to Choke Canyon State Park.

Upon entering the campground loop, we noticed that the park had a lake and we saw several White-Tailed Deer.  Once we arrived at our site, we spent the rest of the day getting some school work finished.

After school was put away, I pulled out the dinner that I had previously cooked. It was great to have a meal ready in 15 minutes.  One thing that I try to do on the day before we leave a campground is cook a crock-pot meal that I can just reheat on the day of travel.

Once everyone's belly was full, Jeff and I called a family meeting.  We have noticed that we have been letting the children ignore some of our rules and we have failed to discipline them in a consistent manner. We have noticed that all the children have forgotten their manners, have started using outdoor voices inside, and Hannah and several others are out of control. Therefore, the family meeting tonight was an effort to reinstate the rules and the consequences for breaking them.

Hopefully, tomorrow we will go back to having children that we enjoy to be around and they will have parents that are more pleasant.  -- Well,  maybe I am dreaming in thinking that it will happen overnight but it is a nice dream.
