For a while now, I have been wanting to add a weekly post title "View from my window". I kept putting it off because of inconsistent Internet service, and for the fact that I am already behind on my posting/journaling about our discoveries.
Now that I home, I thought "the view out my window is going to look almost the same everyday". While we were in the bus, new adventures, new people, and new circumstances awaited us daily. The view out my window was all ways changing. As I was thinking about all that has happened the last week ,while looking out my window, I wondered...what do other people see when they look out their window.
When it is pouring rain outside and you look out your window, what do you see? Do you see dark stormy clouds, rain beating down, the flowers getting pelted by the rain and wind? Or do you see the rain coming down replenishing the ground, the clouds releasing water to fill the oceans, and the flowers getting a much needed drink of water?
When you look out your window, what do you see? Do you see homeless people living and eating on the street because in your opinion they refuse to do what is necessary to hold a job? Or do you see homeless people in situations that life circumstances have beaten them down and they have no hope?
How we see things is all about perspective.
Perspective is one's "point of view", the choice of a context for opinions, beliefs and experiences. (Wikipedia)
When I look at situations/circumstances in my life, I have the choice to see them my way based on my opinions, and my experiences. I can choose to let my circumstances direct the decisions I make or I can give my circumstances to God and wait. This year I desire to grow in this area.
I want to look out my window and view my world according to my belief that God is in control. I want to see my circumstances through God's perspective. I want to RESPOND more and REACT less. How can I get God's perspective?
I can get God's perspective...
When I look out my window and keep my eyes on God because He will NEVER lead me up a mountain that we can not climb together. (Isiah 45:2)
When I look out my window and see Faith lighting my way. (2 Corinthians 4:18; 5:7)
When I look out my window and watch God's Grace guiding me down the path.(2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)
When I look out my window and peer into a person that has matured in Christ because of my circumstances. (Colossians 3:1-3)
When I look out my window and look back at myself and view a person whose focus is on seeking God's Wisdom through prayer and His Word. (Luke 1:37)
As I am looking out my window this year I am going to be praying for, waiting on, and seeking God's perspective on my circumstances. While I do this, some people may perceive that I do not care, or that I am just irresponsible. God's perspective is not going to look like the way life is normally handled. (What other people think does not concern me - that is fear of man and a topic for another post. )
This year as I look out my window, no matter where I am, I am going to watch the Son shine on my life.
What do you see when you look out your window?
