Art Provokes Feelings

In the past few months, I have developed a love for art. Since we came to New Mexico, I have went to 3 art galleys and have thoroughly enjoyed each of them. I like looking at the different textures, colors, lines, shapes and styles. I like analyzing each piece of art, trying to figure out the reason why the artist chose to paint the particular scene and what inspired them to paint it the way they did. Abstracts are probably my favorite, I like hearing what each person sees in the painting and what emotion they think inspired that piece of art. You hear so many different things from each person‘s point of view and see many different things in the painting by listing to everyone point out what they see.

I’ve also learned that art is not just a painting, drawing, sketch or even a statue. It is also music, poetry, a picture taken from a camera to pause a moment in time, lyrics in a song, pottery, and the list is endless of what a person could consider art as. Art to me is something not just drawn on paper, but something painted in your mind. It is not just something to read, hear or see. It’s something you feel, something you can relate to, and something that stirs up your emotions. Art comes from your soul and heart, not just from your mind. I read a quote the other day it said “At the touch of love every one becomes a poet. ~Plato” I think that is so true. When you can feel something in your heart it is so easy to draw a picture or pour yourself into a poem or a song. I have tried many times to draw something just because I was simply bored, but it never turned out the way I wanted it to. The reason why was because I could not relate to it. I had no passion for what I was trying to create. Art is an amazing way to express yourself, a way to let your imagination run free, and a way to pour your heart into something only you can make.

Here are some pictures I have taken from some of the galleys I have visited.
