Super Moon Party

Tonight, March 19th 2011, the moon is closer to earth than in the past 18 years. This causes the moon to appear larger than normal.  I decided that this would be a great night to let the children stay up late, get dressed in their pajamas and sit outside. We had a Moon Party.
After eating pizza, we had Moon Pies, popcorn (which we called moon rocks) and watched the sky turn dark and the moon appear. There were a few clouds in the sky but we still got a spectacular show.
Can I have the whole thing? Yes, the Super Moon Pie is all for you!

Let's Party!

Turn around Andrew. It comes up in the east.

By 8:00, it was getting cold but no one went inside. The moon made is appearance around 8:20 looking like a large yellow ball in the sky.

Joshua was just glad he could stay up past 8:00.

Hannah pasted the time by running around, and lying down acting silly.

We enjoyed our Moon Party as we watched the Super Moon appear.
