Today, we decided to ride around and check out state parks in the area. As we were driving a lot of the back roads of Dallas/Fort Worth, we kept seeing donkeys. There would be a herd of cows and a donkey, a herd of sheep and a donkey, a herd of goats and a donkey. What is up with the donkeys? The funniest thing we saw was when we drove past this farm. We saw 3 donkeys and a ZEBRA!! Someone please tell me what is up with the donkeys in Texas.
Donkeys have a natural aversion to canine and don't back down. They are dept with herds of sheep and goats to help protect them from coyotes and "wild dogs". These dogs which have been "dumped" by people who don't want them will form packs and are far more dangerous to livestock than coyotes. FYI, if you see a Llama in with the sheep it's there for the same purpose.
