Inks Lake Hike

While we were at Inks Lake State Park, we took a 2 mile hike. There were 3 trails, Blue, Green and Yellow. We chose the Green Trail because the Blue and Yellow had hunting in progress. The hike was awesome! When we started it was fairly easy but we had no idea what we were getting into. At the beginning, it was flat, had a small trail and a little water but it was not bad. As we walked, we came upon some rocks, well more like a mountain of rocks! Mom and I helped Katie up about half way and then let her sit down while we walked around. The view from the top was amazing.
After we got off the rocks, we got back on the trail. Dad lead the line most of the way as he stopped along the path to tell the kids about different plants we saw. About a half mile down the path, we kept seeing the clouds get darker and closer. Mom prayed it would not rain. The crazy insane part of me wanted it to pour but the normal part of me shouted NO NO NO please don't!
At one point during our walk, we could look into the distance and could see where we were standing at the top of the mountain and now we were at the bottom. It was so cool to see where we were and where we were now. We could have looked around a little more but it was starting to rain and we still had about a mile to go. The more we walked the more we walked into rain! About 10 minutes later, we were walking in a mist of rain. So of course with it raining, there was wet dirt/sand and wet rocks. Joshua was really the one who fell down a lot. Even when it was not raining he was falling. He fell about 15 times and he didn't like it when I tried to get a picture of him.
Mom and I took turns helping Katie up the rocks, under the trees, over the water and down the hills. She did very well. When we had about a half a mile to go, she had a small break down. I was holding her hand and she kept stopping. I kept making her walk forward. I was telling her how good she was doing and she told me to hush. I found it very funny but she did not. She finally decided to just sit down, look at me and pucker out her bottom lip. Of course, her puppy dog face was so cute and funny. I could not help but laugh harder. I was trying to comfort her and stop laughing. Mom got Katie from me and a little later on Katie looked at her and said, "VAN" in a very high pitched, loud, demanding tone with a stomp of her foot. But it did not work cause the van could not come to her. She had to go to it!
By now, the mist of rain was a little harder and we were kinda damp but not bad. When we finally finished our hike, I was quite proud of my big family. Over all the hike was good, fun and amazing. It was awesome to see some of God's amazing and wonderful creation. Maybe next time we will take a 3 mile hike!

God is truly amazing!!! - Sierra
