Inks Lake State Park

During our stay at Inks Lake State Park, we had one day that it was nice weather. On this day, the children played in the Live Oak Tree in our site. We stayed in site 76. This site was a pull-through site. We had the view of the lake in front of us. The bath house and the playground was within walking distance. The bath house was clean but cold. Thankfully the water was hot. The park host suggested that we go to another bath house. This bath house was nicer but had a shower that opened to the outside instead of several showers in one area. However, it was warm!!

The park is very pretty and has lots of wildlife to view. We watched a Eastern Fox Squirrel that lived in the tree below. You should see the tail on this squirrel. It is longer than the squirrel's body. His belly is orange-red and we watched him eat acorns. We also watched White-Tail Deer play, watched Mallard ducks and several American Coot swim, and watched a Great Blue Heron catch fish. We even saw the white form of the Great Blue Heron. The children got out the binoculars so they could see the heron up close. If the weather had been warmer, we would have went down by the lake to view the wildlife more.

One thing we loved about this park was that the Park Rangers patrolled the area frequently. The security was the most we have seen in a State Park.
Soon after this picture was taken, Jacob fell out of the tree. Nothing was hurt except Jacob's pride.

Melissa just relaxing for a photo.

I love to see Sierra laugh and play just like her siblings.

Is Joshua was looking for the squirrel?

Before, Jacob fell out of the tree!
Andrew holding on until Sierra takes a picture. He said, "Hurry UP!!"

Hannah has to get in on the fun. We had to watch her carefully. She wanted to climb to the TOP!!

The view out our front window. This park would be gorgeous in the Fall.

I snapped this photo just after watching the sun set for the day.
While at Inks Lake State Park, we took a hike. (I will post about this another day.) Also, we visited the capital of Texas, Austin.
We would visit this park again and hope the weather was nice, so that, we could take the two hikes that we were unable to go on.
