Our Stay At Fort Davis State Park

When we arrived at Fort Davis State Park, the Rangers were friendly and told us to go look around and pick a site. We picked site 14 which was near the bath house. It was a great place for the children to play and ride their bikes. From the moment we arrived at this park I felt like I could stay here for awhile.  It was a beautiful area, there are several things to do nearby, and the park has several hiking trails and a restaurant.  The very first night we saw several Javalina and Mule Deer right in our campsite.
The bath house is clean, warm and has plenty of hot water.  The park has several places to view birds, they have a playground, and an interpretive center.  This park is a must visit if you are ever in the area.

While at the park, we visited Big Bend ( more on this later), Marfa, Alpine, Terlingua, Presidio, Lajaitas, and other surrounding towns.  We met several new friends and had lots of opportunity to share our Faith with people in the area.  We will never forget Mr. Ron and Mrs. Jane. They are the sweetest couple and our children fell in love with them. We enjoyed talking with them on several occasions, and even having dinner together.  Jeff had an opportunity to do some work on Mr. Ron's camper and Mr. Ron helped us out with our Internet or lack thereof.  Mr. Ron and Mrs. Jane you will forever be a part of us.

Right before we left, Jeff got a position as a Park Host.  He really enjoyed meeting and getting to know the Rangers and other Park Host.  Our biggest regret about leaving suddenly was that Jeff didn't get to continue on as Park Host and fulfill his commitment.  However, circumstances as they were directed us home unexpectedly.

Therefore, a trip back to Fort Davis State Park is defiantly in the future.  We miss you Maria, Virginia, Gill, and Jason.
