Our visit to Choke Canyon State Park

We arrived at Choke Canyon on December 29th, 2009.  While we visited the park we enjoyed the classes provided by the Rangers, enjoyed walking around the lake, and hiking the bird trail.
One thing that we loved about Choke Canyon was all the wildlife. Every morning, we enjoyed watching the Green Jays, Vireos, Cardinals, Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Herons and many more birds. During the day, we saw wild turkeys, Javalinas, and White-tailed Deer. When it started to get dark, Armadillo and more White-tailed deer came around our campsite.  Choke Canyon has a bird viewing area and several birding trails.

The abundance of wildlife made up for the lack of warm water in the bath house. However, Sierra and I found out that it was better if we took turns going to take a shower. This way we had more hot water and could enjoy our shower without the water turning cold. The bath house was clean and warm.

We would return to this park and stay for as long as they would have us despite the lack of Internet because the sites are clean, the rangers are friendly and informative, the wildlife was plentiful, and the children had a great place to ride bikes and play.
Thanks Ranger Paul for making our visit an enjoyable one.
