Snakes and Planes

One evening while camping at Lake Bistineau State Park, Jeff stepped out of the bus and stepped on top of this.....
After a little research and asking the Park Ranger, we learned it was a Ground Rattlesnake.

It has fangs!! This photo was taken AFTER Jeff hit it with the ax.

The next day, the children wanted to hold the snake.
Hannah had to be the first one to hold it.

We are surprised that Jacob wanted to hold the snake. It was only a little over a year ago when Jacob wouldn't get close to an Earthworm!

Melissa wanted to hold it and also wanted to dissect it. We skipped the dissecting part.

Joshua and Andrew didn't want to hold the snake but they sure liked it when Daddy took them and Jacob to Barksdale Air Force Base 8th Museum to see the planes.

The museum has planes used in World War I and II.

They have a B-17 Flying Fortress and KC-97 Stratofreighter on exhibit. You can also watch some Air Force films which can be viewed in a reproduction of a briefing room used during the War.  Admission to this museum is free but you must present a valid ID when entering.

From all the comments, that I heard from the boys and Jeff, they really enjoyed the museum. The girls and I enjoyed hanging out at the bus just talking.
