Discovering a Hail Storm - April 14, 2010

It is NOT snow. It's hail.  Jeff was driving back from Lincoln, NM and it was looking like rain. Little did we know that it wasn't rain. In a matter of minutes, we were in the middle of a hail storm. I have seen hail falling from the vantage point of our house but never from looking out a van window. The sound the hail made coming down on the van took me back to when I was 10 years old, living in a trailer with a tin roof during a storm.  The sound was so loud it was deafening.

Five minutes after pulling off to the side of the road, we had almost an inch of hail on the ground that was the pea size. The children were covering their ears and yelling, "It's hurting my ears!"

Hail Storm
After 15 minutes, the ground was covered with almost 3 inches of hail. In the van it sounded like Tiger Woods and all his friends were hitting golf balls at our van all at the same time.

Behind these trees stood a herd of cows. Sierra wanted to know what the cows did in the middle of a hail storm. Hmmm... "they just stand their and get pelted with the golf ball size hail." My, oh my, glad we were in the van and not a herd of cows in the field.
We were thankful to be heading out of the storm with clear skies ahead.
Thank You Lord for Protecting Us.
