We discovered the "bright green" trail at Inks Lake State Park. The map states that it "loops around a rocky knob (This is a huge hill - a mountain where I come from!!), edges Stumpy Hollow (lake with stumps coming out of it), majority of trail is rough and rocky (this was an under statement), and total distance is 2 miles." However, we discovered that WE CAN DO IT.
Katie discovered that she can rock climb. She received lots of praise from Sierra to which she was aggravated about 1 1/4 miles into the trail. Katie looked at Sierra and said, "shut up"!! Then she said, "sit down" "van". Sierra gave more encouragement through her laughter. Katie just looked at her and SAT down on the closest rock. By this time, Sierra was bent over laughing. I had to turn and go back to help Katie. She got up without a fuss (no biting herself, or hitting her head). She just started walking. Once we spotted the van, Katie actually started running toward the van. I am so proud of her!!
Joshua discovered that he can not walk over the rocks without falling. (I was getting ready to take Katie's braces off and put them on Joshua!)
I discovered that Jacob truly cares for his Mommy. During the hike, he was constantly asking me if I needed help. Maybe something was showing on my face that I didn't realize.
We all discovered ,with Jeff's help, the Prickly Pear Cactus, the Texas Persimmon, the Ashe Juniper, the Yucca, Granite, the Catclaw, the Live Oak, Vernal Pools, and the Pencil Cactus. He was our personal nature guide.
